Hotel Riviera sits right on the Portorož promenade, a few steps from the water, and its Sea Spa pools are the main draw for both guests and day visitors. The pools are filled with heated seawater, indoors and out, alongside separate thermomineral water pools — a bathing combination that's part of what makes this stretch of the Slovenian coast known for therapeutic swimming.
A day pass gets access to the pools, the sun terrace, the hotel's own stretch of beach, and the LifeFit fitness center. Bathrobes are reserved for guests staying at the Grand Hotel Portorož or Hotel Slovenija, so day visitors should plan to bring their own. Entry to Casinò Riviera and the Grand Casinò Portorož (closed December 24 and over New Year) is also included, which is a nice option if a break from the water is in order.
Parking runs €10 a day outside the high season, rising to €15 a day from May through September 2026 — worth factoring into the cost of a visit if driving in. Staff work in Slovenian, Italian, German, English, Russian and Hungarian, so language shouldn't be a barrier for most European visitors.
The hotel itself is a fully renovated 183-room property with a restaurant, a reworked bar, and rooms ranging from singles to a presidential suite, many with sea views and balconies. For anyone staying elsewhere in Portorož, the spa and pool access alone make it a reasonable stop, right on the main promenade near the Parenzana cycling path, restaurants and cafés.
