Terme di Chianciano is a spread-out thermal complex in the town of Chianciano Terme, set between the Valdichiana and Val d'Orcia areas of Tuscany. It's built around naturally sourced thermal water, with the site organized into separate areas rather than one single building.

The main bathing area, Piscine Termali Theia, offers indoor and outdoor pools kept between 33°C and 36°C, along with water jets, hydromassage, saunas, a Turkish bath (bagno turco), emotional showers and relax zones. It's set up for casual use by families and groups as well as couples, and a day pass is available with walk-ins welcome.

For something more structured, the Terme Sensoriali section runs a guided multisensory circuit through more than 20 rooms and environments — a mix of pools, hot-and-cold spaces, sensory rooms and relax areas built around water, heat, sound, scent and light. It's aimed at people wanting a quieter, more immersive session rather than a straightforward swim.

Beyond the bathing facilities, the complex also includes a Centro Medico affiliated with Italy's national health service, offering clinical, diagnostic and physiotherapy services alongside traditional thermal cures and tailored movement programs. Across the site there are around 20 treatments on offer in total.

Opening hours run most weekdays from 7:30am to 1pm and again from 3pm to 6pm, with Saturday limited to the morning session (7:30am–12pm) and Sunday closed. Staff can assist in English and Italian.

Good to know

Can you just walk in, or do you need to book ahead?
Walk-ins are welcome and a day pass is available, so a reservation isn't strictly required, though booking ahead directly with the venue is worth confirming, especially for the Terme Sensoriali circuit.
How much does a day pass cost?
The complex falls into the moderate price tier, but an exact day-pass price isn't listed here — check current rates on the official website or by phone.
What are the opening hours?
Monday to Friday it's open 7:30am–1pm and 3pm–6pm, Saturday mornings only from 7:30am to noon, and it's closed on Sundays.
Is this spa suitable for families and groups, not just couples?
Yes — it's not adults-only, and the Theia pools area in particular is set up to accommodate families, groups and couples.
What's the difference between the pools area and the Terme Sensoriali?
Piscine Termali Theia is a more casual thermal pool and sauna experience with jets and hydromassage, while Terme Sensoriali is a guided multisensory path through over 20 themed rooms and environments.
