The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Dove Mountain

The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Dove Mountain is the adults-only spa wing of the Dove Mountain Resort outside Tucson, built around treatments that lean on desert ingredients and local healing traditions: indigenous gemstones, indigo poultices, basalt stones, agave nectar oil and prickly pear botanicals show up across the menu's six listed treatments, including the signature Desert Monsoon Ritual.

Facility access — the Serenity infinity-edged pool, hot tub, dousing shower, dry sauna, infused steam room, fitness center and relaxation and couples lounges — is included with the purchase of any treatment for that day. Outdoor lounge chairs, day beds and cabanas are available around the pool area, and locker rooms are private. Day passes are available, though the spa's own policy ties facility use to a treatment booking that day.

This is an 18-and-over space; guests under 18 can't book body treatments, massages, or use the spa facility or pool at all. Couples treatments are offered, and the lounges are set up with that in mind.

The spa recommends booking at least a week ahead by phone or online, arriving 30 minutes early, and skipping shaving, waxing, or sauna/steam use within eight hours of a scrub or peel. Cancellations need six hours' notice to avoid a full charge. Robes and slippers are provided, and lockers (not a safe) hold your belongings, so resort guest-room safes are the suggested spot for valuables. It's open daily from 9:30am to 5pm.
