Bergerbad is a family-run wellness house in Ainring, just outside Bad Reichenhall, built around a 3,000 square meter complex of saunas, steam rooms and heated pools. The site traces back to 1956, when Hans Berger opened the original outdoor pool here for guests of the nearby Rupertihof and local residents; the business remains in family hands today.
Inside, visitors find a mix of indoor and outdoor saunas, including a Finnish pine sauna run at 90 degrees, an aroma steam bath, infrared cabins made of pine wood, and a large whirlpool. Outdoors there's a heated pool and a heated sauna pool, plus loungers for relaxing between rounds. A bistro serves light meals, salads, snacks and coffee and cake, and there are relaxation rooms with panoramic views. Changing rooms come with lockable cupboards, and showers include rain showers and jet showers.
Clothing is optional in parts of the facility, with a designated FKK (nude) area restricted to those 16 and older; general entry to Bergerbad starts at age 5. Massages, cosmetic treatments and baths in climate-controlled treatment rooms are available alongside the pool and sauna facilities, and the spa also offers wellness vouchers. The operator notes that the facility runs on self-generated energy, which it credits with keeping its offering and pricing stable over the years.
Day passes are available and walk-ins are welcome, with the spa open every day from 11am to 7pm. Those wanting to extend the visit can book accommodation through the associated Bayern-Chalets or Landhotel Berger in Ainring.
