Calm Waters Spa

Calm Waters Spa sits at the entrance to Hawks Cay Resort on Duck Key, in Florida's Middle Keys. It's a day spa built around five core treatment categories: massage, facials, couples treatments, sugaring (a sugar-paste hair removal method), and curated spa packages that bundle several services into one visit. The facial menu includes options using the Elemis Biotec system alongside more traditional treatments.

Day passes are available, and the minimum age for spa services is 12, so this isn't strictly an adults-only space, though it leans toward couples and relaxation-focused visits. The spa shares its building with a fitness center and a shop. The fitness center runs on a slightly longer schedule than the spa itself, opening at 7am, while the spa and shop both operate 9am to 5pm daily.

The fitness side is well-equipped for a resort facility: multiple treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes, a set of strength machines (chest press, leg press, leg extension, shoulder press, cable, two Smith machines), two racks of free weights, yoga mats, exercise balls, and a separate studio space for floor work.

A few house rules are worth knowing before booking. Cell phones aren't allowed inside the spa itself — guests are asked to keep phone use to the lobby or outside, and to silence devices if they're left in a locker. Lockers with keys are provided for personal items, though valuables are better left in a guest room safe. Appointments fill quickly, so advance booking is recommended, and guests are asked to arrive 15 minutes early since treatments run on a fixed schedule. Cancellations need 24 hours' notice to avoid being charged the full appointment price.
