Spa Thermal de Haute Provence sits in Digne-les-Bains, in the Alpes-Haute-Provence hills, and runs on naturally hot thermal water drawn year-round. The core of the place is the 525 m² Espace Aqualudique: an indoor and outdoor pool circuit with counter-current swimming, underwater jets, jacuzzi, bubble baths and geysers, plus a sauna and hammam for dry and humid heat. There's also a classic Roman-style bathing sequence with frigidarium, caldarium and tepidarium pools of varying temperature.

Beyond the water, the spa offers a small menu of four treatments - facials, body scrubs and wraps, and personalized massages using the Sothys and Origine product lines - along with packages (forfaits) that combine several treatments, including options designed for couples. Separate aquagym classes run through the week for adults 18 and up, aimed at toning and cardio work in the water rather than relaxation.

Access is walk-in friendly with day passes available, so no overnight stay or membership is required to use the pools. Children are allowed from age 7, but only on Wednesday afternoons and all day Sunday; the rest of the week the baths are adults-only. The spa is closed on Tuesdays, and hours shift seasonally, with Wednesday and Friday evening sessions running later than other weekdays. Staff and services operate in French, so non-French speakers should plan to communicate basics by phone or at the desk. The site notes a temporary booking-system issue, meaning certain reservations and subscription renewals currently need to go through the front desk or by phone rather than online.

Good to know

Do I need to book ahead or can I just walk in?
Walk-ins are accepted for the day-pass bathing area, though the venue notes some reservations currently need to be made by phone due to a booking-system issue.
Can kids come to the spa?
Children aged 7 to 14 are admitted only on Wednesday afternoons and all day Sunday; the rest of the week access is adults-only (minimum age otherwise applies).
What's included with a day pass?
A day pass covers the Espace Aqualudique's indoor and outdoor thermal pools, counter-current swimming, jacuzzi, sauna and hammam; treatments like massages and facials are booked separately and there are four on the menu.
What day is the spa closed?
The spa is closed on Tuesdays; other days it opens in split morning/afternoon or afternoon/evening sessions that vary by day.
Is English spoken at the spa?
The venue operates in French, so it's worth confirming language support directly by phone before visiting if you don't speak French.
