コスギリゾート / SPA / Yura Yura Hanare

Yura Yura Hanare is the newer wing of Kosugi Resort's family bath complex in Otohime, part of the Kurokawa Onsen area of Aso, Kumamoto. The water is a sodium-magnesium sulfate spring, drawn from the Otohime source, and said to leave skin feeling smooth after soaking.

The wing has seven rooms, each with its own look and bath setup. Five standard rooms — Urumi, Murasaki, Ai, Sumi and Beni — have an indoor tub only, rented by the hour. Kou is a special room that allows dogs to stay with guests, though pets cannot enter the bath itself. Gin, the top room, pairs an indoor bath with an outdoor tub and its own rest lounge, booked for 90 minutes rather than the usual 60.

Baths are private and reserved per room rather than per person, making this a kashikiri (family bath) setup suited to couples or families bathing together rather than a shared bathhouse. Walk-ins are accepted and day passes are sold, so overnight guests aren't required. The resort also runs a separate large communal bath in its main reception building, with men's and women's sides, a sauna on the men's side only, an outdoor bath and a powder room, priced and timed differently from the Hanare rooms.

Opening hours run 10:00 to 24:00 daily, with last entry at 23:00. Payment is accepted in cash, major credit cards, e-money and QR codes. Availability can be limited during holidays such as Golden Week, Obon and New Year, so confirming ahead is worthwhile.
