Terme Merano sits in the center of town at Piazza Terme 9, built around thermal water piped in from a spring on Vigiljoch near Lana, about 8 km away. The water has been drawn through a 1,200-meter tunnel since 1966; it carries radon, fluoride and trace metals from the surrounding granite, and is used on-site for thermal inhalations and baths aimed at chronic respiratory and rheumatic conditions.

The complex spans 25 pools, a dedicated sauna world, an outdoor thermal park, and a separate spa area for beauty and massage treatments, plus a medical area with doctors on staff. There's also a fitness center with a view over the city, a restaurant, a café and bar, and a shop. Facilities run the gamut from quiet soaking to active workouts, so a visit can be a slow afternoon in the water or a full day mixing sauna sessions, a gym class and lunch on the terrace.

It's set up for groups, families and couples alike — walk-ins are welcome and day passes are sold on-site, with no requirement to be a hotel guest. Staff work in German, Italian and English. There's an underground parking garage (Tiefgarage) for those driving in. Terme Merano is open every day of the year from 9:00 to 21:00, and the operator holds EarthCheck sustainability certification, covering things like water and energy use and reduced plastic across the facility.
