Thermes de Marlioz is a medical thermal spa rather than a drop-in wellness spot. The water here is naturally sulfur-rich, and treatment is built around inhalations, nasal irrigations and aerosols aimed at chronic respiratory conditions (asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis) and affections of the oral and buccal mucosa (AMB). A medical team oversees the protocols, and most care is organized as a conventional 18-day cure, which can be partially reimbursed, or as shorter "free cures" of six days or more for those who can't commit to three weeks.
There's a mini-curiste track for children from 24 months, run on medical prescription, making this one of the few thermal centers set up for very young patients alongside adults. The site itself sits within the 10-hectare Domaine de Marlioz park, with grounds for walking between sessions, plus on-site accommodation and a restaurant so a full cure can be managed without leaving the property.
This is not a spa for spontaneous day visits: there's no day pass, and access runs through reservation and, for most programs, a doctor's prescription. Facilities and signage are in French. Opening hours run mornings only, Monday through Saturday, from 7:30 to 12:00, with no Sunday service — in line with a clinical, cure-based rhythm rather than a leisure spa schedule.
Good to know
- Can I book a single day pass or drop-in treatment?
- No, day-pass access isn't available here; treatments are organized as structured cures (18-day conventional cures or shorter 6-day-plus free cures).
- Do I need a prescription to book a cure?
- The conventional and mini-curiste cures require a medical prescription; confirm with the center whether the shorter free cures need one too.
- Is there a minimum age for treatment?
- Yes, the minimum age is 2, with a dedicated mini-curiste program for children from 24 months under medical supervision.
- What are the opening hours?
- The center operates mornings only, 7:30 to 12:00, Monday through Saturday, and is closed Sundays.
- What languages are services offered in?
- Services are offered in French; if you need another language, confirm availability directly with the center before booking.
