Hakone Ginyu is a spa resort ryokan set about 420 meters up, overlooking the Hayakawa river gorge and the Hakone mountains. Every guest room has tatami flooring and its own open-air terrace with a private onsen bath fed by sodium-chloride hot spring water, along with an indoor bath or shower and powder room. Meals, both breakfast and dinner, are served kaiseki-style in each room's own dining area, built around seasonal ingredients that change monthly.

Beyond the guest rooms, the property has a mountain-view infinity bath with its own sauna, and a separate pavilion called Ginyu Spa reached via a wooded walkway. That spa section includes a water garden and a source-fed outdoor bath, and is open to day visitors as well as overnight guests, with amenities provided so you don't need to bring your own. There's also a fifth-floor bar and lounge with sake, shochu, whisky, wine and champagne, plus a first-floor garden lounge.

For couples or anyone marking an occasion, the Spa pavilion can be booked out entirely between 9pm and 11pm after regular treatment hours end, including for weddings or anniversary surprises. The overall feel leans toward traditional Japanese hospitality layered with a more modern, exotic-luxury aesthetic, rather than a budget or casual soak. Address is 100-1 Miyanoshita, Hakone; specific hours and current pricing should be confirmed directly with the ryokan.
